Reach the World

“Go therefore, and teach…”

make disciples

Go therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even to the end of the world. Amen

(Matthew 28:19-20)

Why does God want us to teach all nations and baptize them? Because He is a holy, righteous, and just God. As such, God demands that we be the same. The problem, though, is “there is none that do good, no, not one” (Psalm 53:3).   Romans 3:23 tells us, “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.

As a God of Justice, God demands perfection. As sinners, we have transgressed God’s holy law (see Exodus 20:1-17). Sin embodies everything that contrary to God’s just and righteous nature. Justice demands a penalty of death and separation from the love of God for eternity in a place known as Hell. Now we come to the good news of the Gospel:

But God commends his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him.

(Romans 5:8-9)

For I delivered to you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures: And that he was seen of Cephas, then of the twelve: After that, he was seen of above five hundred brethren at once; of whom the greater part remain to this present, but some are fallen asleep.

(1st Corinthians 15:3-6)

Jesus died, taking upon himself the wrath that was due us. Through Jesus, God provides his righteousness as a gift to sinners to all who accept Jesus Christ as their savior. And God did this for EVERYONE!

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. He that believes on him is not condemned: but he that believes not is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.

(John 3:16-18)

God’s gift is why Jesus commands, “Go therefore, and teach all nations…“. The Gospel, the love that God has for the world, is for everyone, thus the command to spread the news.
